13-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Hit In Md. Parking Lot

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a 13-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a car while watching a soccer game.

Authorities say officers were called to Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that the operator of a Ford Escape was driving in the rear parking lot of the school when the vehicle hit a sign, a tree and then an adult and the girl.

The adult was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The 13-year-old, identified by police as Deborah Roxana Reyes Casasola of Silver Spring, died at the hospital.

Police did not identify the driver of the vehicle or the injured adult.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the collision to call investigators at 301-279-8000.
