Matt Zenitz, Maryland Beat Writer, calls in with Scott and Ken on 105.7 The Fan today to give us a look about what the hype is about with Maryland football.

Since it was first talked about that Maryland was going to the Big 10, the majority of fans have been upset because of the tradition of the ACC and have had nothing but negative thoughts. Funny thing is, the past few months the boys have been practicing, there has been nothing but positive news.

To start with the positive news, Maryland football hired three new coaches. One of them being Coach Stud, who was the offensive coordinator at LSU. He has done nothing but made these guys ready for the season. According to Coach Edsall, the offensive line has gotten better under Coach Stud.

This past season Maryland suffered a handful of injuries that were crucial to both the offense and the defense. This year with the returning seniors and the stacked offense, Maryland will look quite different than past years. Some of those wide receivers are the obvious: Stefon Diggs and Deon Long. Some other players to look at are: Marcus Leak, Taivon Jacobs, and Amba Etta-Towa. On the defensive side, they are pretty comfortable with there front seven. Zenitz says that Maryland should be able to go to a bowl game again this year. They have a lot of "winnable" games and might be a surprise to teams that fans are betting against Maryland. As the season gets closer, everyone is excited to see what show Maryland has to put on for us. This Maryland squad will be consistently competitive this year and we should look for a record of 7-5 or 8-4.
