O's Reliever TJ McFarland Joins Scott and Jeremy

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher TJ McFarland joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and checked in on how things are going down the home stretch of the season for the birds. From TJ to Andrew Miller to Zach Britton the O's bullpen has been on fire. McFarland reiterated that something special is going on in the Baltimore bullpen. "I'll tell you what our guys in the pen have been unbelievable this year we've been kind of feeding off of each other. It's been unbelievable."

The Orioles originally acquired McFarland in the Rule 5 draft prior to the 2013 where he saw a lot of time as a starting pitcher. He has since shifted to the long-relief role in the pen and has been very successful seeing a lot of time in mop-up duty. TJ talked about what has made the switch from starting to relief a little easier. "Talking to other guys who've made the transition has made me feel really comfortable in my role." The second year pitcher went on to say specifically what he does. "For me my role is if the starter isn't able to go five or six, I have to bridge the gap."

Amidst the pennant race the Orioles have been scoreboard watching here and there, but TJ said the O's have been taking every game in stride. "You watch it a little bit but at the end of the day the standings don't really matter until the last game of the season."
