National Book Festival Opens, Moves Inside Saturday

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The National Book Festival has moved inside and is opening to the public in the Washington Convention Center this weekend after a decade on the National Mall.

The free festival runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Library of Congress event features activities and books for readers of all ages.

This year's festival includes a poetry slam, a discussion about books that have been made into movies and live cooking demonstrations from some top chefs.

Pavilions for various reading subjects will feature more than 100 authors and illustrators. The Pavilion of the States will feature each state's literary heritage. New pavilions will focus on science, picture books and the culinary arts.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are the honorary hosts.
