Patriotic Corn Maze Opening In Carroll County

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A patriotic corn maze in Maryland's Carroll County is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the writing of the country's national anthem.

This weekend marks 200 years since Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the song following America's victory over the British during the War of 1812's Battle of Baltimore. Key wrote the words after being inspired by the flag flying over Baltimore's Fort McHenry.

The corn maze at the Carroll County Agriculture Center includes the outlines of a flag, Fort McHenry, a ship and the words 200 years. A local radio station reports the corn maze is open Sept. 26 through Nov. 2 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission for adults is $10 while children ages 3 to 12 are $5 and children age 2 and under free.
