15-Year-Old Brutally Beaten At Six Flags Remains In A Coma

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WJZ)—A 15-year-old boy remains in the hospital after he is brutally beaten at Six Flags during a Halloween event.

Rochelle Ritchie reports the family is now praying for a full recovery as police try to find his attackers.

The Six Flags beat down left a15-year-old high school student in a coma.

"He was an innocent bystander. He had nothing to do with the fight," said Zena Pierre, family spokesperson.

The brawl broke out outside Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro during its popular Halloween event Fright Fest. Video shows a person lying on the ground not moving.

"They knew what they wanted to do and how they were going to do it, and they wanted to finish it make sure he was not going to get up," Pierre said.

Officials with Six Flags would not go on camera with WJZ but in a written statement say "Safety and security of our guests is always our number one priority. The unacceptable events that took place Saturday evening represent an isolated incident."

There are reports the fight may have been inspired by the Hollywood movie, "The Purge."

"They were hearing people yell 'Purge! Purge!'" Pierre said.

"The Purge" is a movie that showcases killers in masks on a night where all crime, including murder, is legal.

The teen remains in a coma and is fighting for his life. This week the teen had to have part of his skull removed to help reduce the swelling in his brain.

Other teenagers were also injured during the mayhem. One teen was left with a gaping hole under his lip that required more than 30 stitches.

Officials with Six Flags say they are beefing up security as a result of this fight.

Police are using social media websites and video to find the culprits in the attack.
