Man Accused Of Striking Police Cruiser Takes Deal

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A man accused of driving into a Maryland State Police cruiser with three law enforcement officers inside has entered into a plea deal.

Online court records show 32-year-old Edwin Fletcher of Salisbury entered Alford pleas Monday to three counts of first degree assault and a count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. With an Alford plea, a defendant is able to take the benefit of a plea agreement without admitting guilt.

Fletcher was wanted on drug charges when authorities surrounded his vehicle in March in Salisbury. That's when Fletcher allegedly rammed a State Police cruiser with his car. He was arrested a week later in Delaware.

An attorney for Fletcher did not immediately return a telephone call Monday evening.
