WASHINGTON (AP) -- A funeral service will be held at Washington National Cathedral for Ben Bradlee, the former editor of The Washington Post.

The cathedral announced it will hold a funeral service for Bradlee on Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. The service will be open to the public.

Bradlee is credited with invigorating The Post and became famous for his role in toppling President Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal.

Bradlee died at home Tuesday of natural causes and had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years. He was 93.
