1 Adult, 2 Toddlers Struck By Car In Laurel

LAUREL (WJZ) -- An adult and two young children were struck by a car in Laurel Tuesday evening as the children were riding scooters in the roadway.

According to Howard County Police, the accident happened just before 7 p.m. as 49-year-old Douglas Scott David was driving his Toyota Prius down the 8700 block of Boulder Ridge Road his car struck three pedestrians -- Woo Sick Hong, 70, and two children ages 2 and 3.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed young children were riding small scooters at the time and traveling in the roadway near their home.

Hong was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma in baltimore and last known condition was serious, but stable while the children were taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore where one child was listed in stable condition, while the other is listed in serious but stable condition.

David was not injured and remained on scene.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
