Let It Go! Disney's 'Frozen' Comes To Baltimore On Ice

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The stage at the Royal Farms Arena is set on ice, as Disney's smash-hit Frozen comes to town this weekend.

Gigi Barnett takes a behind-the-scenes peak at how the special effects wow the nearly sold-out crowd.

The tale of two sisters in Disney's mega-hit Frozen comes to the Royal Farms Arena. Like the show title, it's all set on ice, with a rink that magically transforms the seasons.

"Everything from a little flurry to a full-on blizzard. It's amazing," said Meagan Midkiff, ensemble skater.

Midkiff says the set has at least 20 snow machines. Add in the rink, characters and music and Arandale comes to life.

"Hearing the audience sing along, you can hear them backstage just absolutely loud. We've had to turn up the volume of our show track to allow for us to be able to hear what we're saying out there," MidKiff said.

Disney on Ice: Frozen is the story of Anna and Else--two sisters torn apart and brought back together. Many kids come to the nearly sold-out shows dressed as their favorite characters, but ensemble skater Jackson Stevens says the production isn't just for girls.

"We get to see all of the little Annas and Elsas dressed up, but we also get to see Olafs dressed up and the occasional Kristoph," said Stevens.

And when winter ends on this set, summer magically begins.

"We go from winter, we bring the snow and the fog. And then we cut it all out and we melt everything down and we bring out summer and all the flowers blossoming. It's beautiful by the end of the show," Stevens said.

The last show in Baltimore is on Sunday night. After that, the cast and crew pack up and head to Uniondale, New York.

Because of high demand for Frozen tickets, two more performances were added this weekend.
