St. Leo's Church To Host Ravioli, Meatball Dinner Fundraiser Sunday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Ravioli and meatballs, just part of what's on the menu Sunday in Little Italy.

Ron Matz reports it's all in the sauce at St. Leo's Church.

"It tastes even better than it looks," said Sue Corasiniti, volunteer.

That's why folks will flock to St. Leo's in Little Italy on Sunday. This is Italian food at its finest — all homemade.

"So far they've made 12,500 raviolis, and this coming Saturday, we'll be making 4,000 meatballs," said Tina DeFranco, volunteer.

It's a fundraiser for St. Leo's, but also much more.

"It's meeting new friends, and bringing out friends and just getting together. It's family," said Father Sal Furnari, St. Leo The Great Church.

And the family will be there. They'll serve 2,000 dinners in the school hall and carryout.

"For $12 you get an Italian salad, bread and either meatballs and ravioli or spaghetti and meatballs," Corasiniti said.

The raviolis are ready, cannolis from Vaccaro's, cookies and pizelles, make up a St. Leo's Sunday to remember.

"People come to visit and come back home to see old friends, to make new friends. It's a wonderful day," DeFranco said.

Sunday's dinner runs from noon to 6 p.m.
