Baltimore Sees Record Low Temperatures

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Baltimore has shattered a record set in 1936!

The record low for November 19 is 20 degrees and we broke that Wednesday morning, according to WJZ's First Warning Weather Team which reported the temperatures from BWI this morning.

Dulles International Airport broke its 1990 record with temperatures reported in at 13 degrees Wednesday morning.

Fortunately, the temperatures will reach the mid-30s later Wednesday and we won't have to worry about the wind that made Tuesday feel so miserable.

Temperatures will continue to climb throughout the week, but you'll definitely want to bring winter gear to work today.

But don't get too used to it, because Friday we will be back into the 30's again. There are strong indications that the jet stream will begin to retreat northward, and allow much warmer air to move over the entire eastern United States.

By Saturday we will be back in the 40's and on Sunday some upper 50's will be seen! With that warmth will also come the threat of showers however, not the worst tradeoff? So if you can survive these cold temps this early, it's likely you'll be able to handle much of what winter has in store for us in the months ahead!
