Baltimore Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Man Found In Car

ANNE ARUNDEL, Md. (WJZ) -- Anne Arundel County police have charged a Baltimore man in the shooting of another man found dead in a car on the side of a Millersville road earlier this week.

According to police, Shupelle Rattim Gunter, 21, of the 2300 block of Seamon Avenue was identified as the suspect and charged in the shooting of 46-year-old Seydou Alassane Ba, of the 400 block of Christopher Avenue in Gaithersburg.

County firefighters had initially responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident just before 7 a.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Williamstowne Drive in Millersville. When they arrived, however, they found a man deceased in the driver's seat and due to his injuries, they called the police homicide unit to investigate.

Ba was identified and taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy, while police recruits combed the area for clues.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Ba died due to a gunshot wound.

Detectives conducted numerous search warrants and spoke to witnesses and during this time a person of interest was developed.

They spoke to Gunter on Thursday and during his interview police say he admitted to shooting Ba after they had an argument.

Investigators believe Ba was an unlicensed cab driver. He was lured to the Millersville area by Gunter, police said.

Gunter is charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, handgun on a person and handgun use in a felony violent crime.

Although an arrest has been made, police say the investigation remains fluid.

Anyone with information on this incident to contact Detective Kelly Harding of the Homicide Unit at 410-222-4743.  One can remain anonymous by contacting the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.
