WJZ Makes Gingerbread Houses For Great Cause

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at WJZ. As Jessica Kartalija reports, why some of our WJZ anchors and reporters are channeling their inner artist for a great cause.

Marylanders love their Orioles, Ravens and mornings with Linh Bui and Marty Bass so it's fitting that their gingerbread house would take on Baltimore's favorite sports teams.

The bird themed gingerbread house took Bui two and a half hours to complete.

Kartalija and Mary Bubala also participated in the gingerbread house challenge. Their inspiration came from a tiki hut in Allan Jackson ft. Jimmy Buffet's It's Five O'Clock Somewhere music video.

Their margaritaville gingerbread house took two tries to get right. The effort was worth the cause.

These two gingerbread houses are at the Timonium Fairgrounds for the Festival of Trees benefiting the Kenney Kreiger Institute.

"It's a lot of fun and for a great cause," Bui said.

There are more than 600 holiday trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses created by local designers, artists, organizations, community groups and WJZ's news team.
