Police Shoot At Maryland Bank Robbery Suspect
GAMBRILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- We are learning more about a violent end to a bank robbery in Anne Arundel County. It left one officer in the hospital and a suspect behind bars.

Police say the robbery suspect struck an officer with his car as he tried to escape, prompting other officers to open fire.
It was a chaotic scene on Route 32 in Gambrills Monday night as a reported bank robbery came to an end. Police say 28-year-old Lamar Mills held up a Navy Federal Credit Union in Odenton, then hopped in a getaway car, hoping to escape.
"Officers happened to be on Route 32 ahead of the vehicle. They slowed down, saw the vehicle approaching and attempted to stop the vehicle," said TJ Smith, Anne Arundel County Police.
Police say Mills briefly stopped, but when officers got out of their car and approached him, he hit the gas again.
"That's when the driver struck them and struck another police car that was empty at the time," Smith said.
Police say two officers managed to doge Mills' car and then opened fire, forcing him to stop. Despite the gunshots, Mills escaped injury and was taken into custody. He is now facing multiple charges of attempted first and second degree murder, as well as armed robbery charges.
One officer was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. There's no word on his current condition. The officers have been identified as Sgt. Andrew Wayson, Corporal Jeffrey Rothenbecker and Corporal Jesse Pattana. Wayson was the hospitalized officer.
Anne Arundel County police say they recovered cash and a realistic looking BB gun from Mills' car.
