Baltimore Gearing Up For Ravens Wild Card Game

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- As Baltimore gears up for this weekend's wild card game, Ravens fans are also gearing up on team merchandise.

As Gigi Barnett explains, sports stores are hoping the Ravens crush the Steelers so sales can soar.

Since Monday, Dan "The T-Shirt Man" McClure has stocked up on the latest Ravens gear.

The Ravens fought to get into the playoffs. And now that they're in the wild card game and facing the Steelers, McClure says it's better to be prepared for a win and the onslaught of fans.

"After we win tomorrow night, pretty soon, we'll be open 24 hours," McClure said.

Some of the hottest gear this season is a Ravens shirt that boasts of Purple Pride during the playoffs and a wild card shirt that leads to the Super Bowl in Arizona for the team.

"The white purple and gray striped hat, that's been really hot," said Xavier Dandridge, The Sports Shop manager.

It's the winter hat Matt Lebowitz spotted at The Sports Shop at the Inner Harbor. He and his brother, Andrew, made a beeline for it.

"That's why he picked it up--because I looked at it first," Andrew Lebowitz said.

"It's a great hat. It's really comfortable," his brother, Matt, said.

Don't think the Steelers fans are sitting idly by. Their terrible towels are flying off shelves, too.

"Cause we want to root on our Steelers," said one Pittsburgh fan.

Ask many Ravens fans and those towels may not be enough to steal a win from the purple birds.

"I want to keep faith. I think we're going to win. I wasn't wavering whatsoever," Andrew Lebowitz said.

Retailers who talked with WJZ say sales since Sundays game were pretty good, but they expect to see even more fans buying gear just before Saturday's big game.
