Gov. Hogan Sets Aside $25M For Local Road Repairs In Md.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has set aside $25 million to help local governments make road repairs.
Hogan, a Republican, released a supplemental budget on Tuesday that includes the money.
Municipal governments will get $19 million and county governments will get $4 million. The city of Baltimore is slated to get $2 million.
Cuts to highway user revenues have been a sore point between the state and local governments in recent years. Hundreds of millions of dollars that had been used for highway user funds were tapped to balance the budget during the recession and its aftermath.
Hogan campaigned on restoring the money. However, he faced a $750 million budget hole as soon as he entered office, and he didn't initially set aside money to restore highway user funds.
