Chris Knoche Previews The Terps Match-Up Against Penn State

Chris Knoche, Color Analyst for the Maryland Terrapins Sports Radio Network, joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to preview the Terps match-up with the Nittany Lions and talk about where the Big Ten stacks up heading into conference tournament time. Chris broke down what Maryland fans can expect from Penn State tonight. "One of the things the do for anyone who has seen them, they play kind of unfailingly hard. They're very much a kind of lunch pale kind of an operation. They have enough talent to keep them in games and they fight you on every possession on defense. I've really been impressed by how hard they scrap."

The Terps have lost 2 of their last 3 games in blow out fashion with their lone victory coming in a tight win over Northwestern. Scott asked Chris if this team is starting to wear down. "I think the issue is really more of a mental fatigue than a physical fatigue. These guys are all world class athletes in the primes of their collective lives and I think what you really need to do is keep them close to the game and to the gym but not for too long."

Stand out junior Jake Layman has had rumors swirling about him leaving College Park early to enter the NBA draft. Jeremy asked Chris to give his thoughts on the Junior Forward. "We sure have seen an uptick in folks coming to the game, NBA personnel coming to the games. And obviously its not just for Jake, there are two teams playing and a lot of good players playing. But certainly there are a lot of folks interested in how he has progressed. I love what Jake has done in large part because Jake came in and played a lot three his first couple of years and played it pretty well. There were some ups and downs but when he was on he was terrific. And when the injury thing happened in the fall he sort of got threshed into that four spot and rather than take it the wrong way he used it to his advantage."
