MCHENRY, Md. (AP) — A kayak design innovator of the 1980s is the featured speaker at an adventure sports symposium in far western Maryland.

Jess Whittemore of Confluence, Pennsylvania, is discussing the history of advanced fabrics for rugged outdoor clothing Tuesday night at Garrett College in McHenry.
