The American League East On Paper
With the Orioles first spring training game only days away, Scott and Jeremy decided to break down the American League East as it stands on paper right now. They kicked things off by taking a look at the hometown team, the Baltimore Orioles. "I think with a healthy Chris Davis, a healthy Machado and a healthy Wieters, and I know that's an if. You think about it, how many homeruns did you get out of the catcher position last year? Not many right. I mean Caleb (Joseph) hit a couple towards the end of the year... I don't think it's going to be as bad as people think."
When talking about Tampa Bay, Jeremy notes that this is going to be a very different Rays team than what fans are used to. "We all know, not a spectacular player but so solid and always pesky when it came to the Orioles, Ben Zobrist is gone. Wil Meyers, one of their top prospects they got in the James Shields trade, he's in San Diego. Matt Joyce, he gone, Yunel Escobar, he's gone. Joel Peralta out of the bullpen and they lost Jose Molina, which isn't huge but you look at what he did behind the plate. And I think the biggest loss for that team, and it's the only team I listed it, everybody else has the same manager coming back, Joe Maddon. I think he was good for 5 or 6 wins a year."
When moving onto Toronto, it was noted that they had an even larger shakeup to their roster. Jeremy also notes in part two of the segment, that he does not expect the Yankees or the Red Sox to do big things in 2015.
