Temporary Protective Order Extended Against Md. Delegate

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A temporary protective order against a Maryland legislator who allegedly slapped his daughter during an argument has been extended one week.

A Baltimore County judge rescheduled a hearing about whether to grant a permanent protective order against Del. Hasan "Jay" Jalisi for next week after neither Jalisi nor his attorney appeared in court. On the phone, Jalisi's attorney told the court that Jalisi had not received service of the temporary order.

Court documents show that Jalisi's daughter, 18-year-old Alizay Jalisi, applied for a protective order after her father slapped her during an argument in late February.

The order also asks for protection for Jalisi's wife and son.

Jalisi, a Democrat, was elected in November to represent District 10 in Baltimore County. He is a member of the House Judiciary Committee.
