Top 5 NFL Free Agents

Who are the top NFL free agents in 2015? We take a look at several players who, following the deadline to be franchise tagged, are hitting the market and possibly in search of a new team. Free agency begins on March 10 so teams will be working hard through the weekend to decide who to look at and figure out how much they're willing to spend.

1. Ndamukong Suh DT

Suh is entering his 5th season in the NFL after being drafted in 2010 by the Detroit Lions. He has had some discipline issues and a few suspensions along the way. He has been handed eight fines and given two suspensions by the league. Any team willing to look past those problems can expect a solid player to add to their defensive line. Speculation is that he could end up with either the Dolphins or Colts.

2. Julius Thomas TE

Injury issues have been the only real issue in his 4-year career but it's a serious red flag for many teams. Some speculate that he is unlikely to re-sign with the Denver Broncos but then again Peyton did just take a pay cut. Some believe he'll end up in Atlanta but Baltimore could also be looking for a TE should Dennis Pitta not be able to return.

3. Devin McCourtey CB/S

He started out as a cornerback but the Patriots switched him over to the safety position. He could play either position for a team in need. The Patriots decided to give the franchise tag to their kicker instead of McCourty. He's been in the league for 5 seasons and has a Super Bowl ring. The draft class for safeties is considered weak this year which raises McCourty's stock but the Patriots have already shown that the $8-10 million tag numbers were too high for them.

4. DeMarco Murray RB

Murray has been in the league for 4 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys but when it came time to assign the franchise tag they went with WR Dez Bryant. According to reports, Murray would remain with the Cowboys if they can match or come close enough to any other offer. This could lead to another team egregiously overpaying for his services. 5. Greg Hardy DE

In five years with Carolina (only 1 game in 2014), Hardy has shown that he's one of the top defensive ends in the league. There are some character concerns with him but some teams don't seem to mind. The league has yet to decide if he will even be allowed to suit up for the 2015 season but that hasn't stopped the Bengals from expressing interest. He's a top pass-rusher and if he does play he will get paid.
