Digging Out Of Another Winter Blast

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--After a day when heavy snow kept a lot of people indoors, it's taking hard work today to get out.

Alex DeMetrick reports.

Cold way below normal for March means more than snow is an obstacle.

Whether on the car or on the street, snow turning into ice makes for slippery, slow going. And on many side streets, that means dealing with delays.

"I work not too far from here, but I'm worried it's going to take me a little longer than usual," said Jaclyn Tekiela.

Where plows and salt trucks are moving, roads--especially main arteries like Cold Spring Lane--are clearing quickly.

When clearing comes down to one-on-one man versus nature, it's kind of like dig to live or live to dig.

"I used to love it as a kid, but I don't like it now. Too much work," Darryl Wood.

And in the wake of Thursday's storm, there's plenty of work to go around.
