Progress Report, Public Outreach For Purple Line

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Supporters of the Purple Line transit project are hosting a progress report and rally on Monday.

The Transit Night in Annapolis event includes an update on the 16-mile project, as well as an opportunity to talk with lawmakers.

The Purple Line is estimated to cost about $2.4 billion and include 21 stations between Bethesda and New Carrolton in Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

The Prince George's County Delegation is also hosting a Purple Line update Monday afternoon.

The project has been in recent headlines after transportation secretary Pete Rahn said the deadline for bidding on the both the Purple Line and Red Line projects had been pushed back from March to August to look at additional ways to save money.
