5 UMBC Lax Players Suspended, School Officials Say
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)— Five women's lacrosse players have been suspended from the team at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, according to a spokesperson for the school.
The women were suspended because they violated team rules, the school says. It's still unclear at this time what caused the violation.
In a statement obtained by WJZ school officials say, "The Athletic Director and other University leaders are following all applicable policies and practices as we work to fully understand the situation and support our student athletes."
School officials confirmed that Mackenzie Reese, Alyssa Semones, Amber Kovalick, Meghan Milani and Brittany Marquess were suspended but gave no further details.
