Man Who Collapsed While Singing Anthem Is Feeling Better

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- A man who collapsed while performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at a Maryland high school basketball state title game is feeling better and is expected to be released from the hospital.

Peyton Easton collapsed while singing ahead of the Class 4A title game between Meade and Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Saturday night in College Park. He was treated on the scene by medics and was conscious and breathing when he was taken to a hospital. Fans gave him a standing ovation as he was wheeled off the court.

Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association executive director Ned Sparks says Easton had an adverse reaction to some medication he was taking. Sparks says Easton is in good spirits and should be released from the hospital on Sunday.
