Davis Hits 3-Run Homer Off Hamels As Orioles Rout Phils 16-4

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Chris Davis hit a three-run homer off Cole Hamels in the first inning, one of five home runs Monday for the Baltimore Orioles in a 16-4 rout of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Davis was 3-for-4 with his second homer of spring training, a double, four RBIs. He led major leagues with 53 home runs in 2013, then hit .196 with 26 homers last season, when he battled an oblique injury and served most of a 25-game suspension for a positive test for a banned amphetamine. He must sit out opening day to complete his suspension.

Hamels, in line to start the season opener at home against Boston on April 6, allowed five runs, six hits and two walks in two innings, leaving him with a 9.00 ERA. He walked Everth Cabrera leading off, then gave up four extra-base hits.

Nolan Reimold, Jimmy Paredes, Steve Pearce and Dariel Alvarez also homered the Orioles, and Paredes had five RBIs. Pearce hit his third homer.

Baltimore had 21 hits after scoring 11 runs in its previous five games.
