Turgeon, Trimble, Wells Earn NABC All-District Honors

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the NABC Division I All-District teams and UPS All-District Coaches for the 2014-15 on Friday. The players and coaches are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.

Terrapins head coach Mark Turgeon was named District 7 Coach of the Year along with Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan.

Freshman point guard Melo Trimble was awarded first team honors while senior guard Dez Wells was selected to the second team.

Trimble's resume from his freshman season includes an average of 16.2 points per game, leading the team in scoring. He was in the top five in scoring in the Big Ten Conference. He was very consistent from the free throw stripe, converting 207 free throw attempts which ranks third on the Terps all time list for a single season. Trimble has also been selected as a first team All-Big Ten and USBWA Freshman All-American for the 2014-15 season.

Dez Wells had a solid, final year for the Terps although he struggled through injury early on in the season. He accumulated 1,398 points in his career at Maryland (19th all-time). In the 2014-15 season Dez averaged 15.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Wells was a first team All-Big Ten honoree.
