Local Group Offers Free Prom Dresses To Students In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--For many high school students, next to graduation, prom is one of the most exciting nights of high school. It's also an expensive night.

As Marcus Washington reports, one group has spent more than a decade relieving some of the financial stress for the students and their parents.

For nearly 200 girls this could be the day they find that perfect dress for prom.

It's the reason Priceless Gown Project started its prom dress give-a-way for high school junior and senior girls in the Baltimore area.

"I have more than one prom to go to, so it would cut costs by a lot," said Kimberly Jones.

For the past twelve months, Priceless Gown Project has collected dresses and more.

"We take dresses, we accessories, we take shoes and all kinds of things in-between; everything you would need for a night out on the town," Leslie Collier said.

The hope is for the girls to find that perfect dress, but if they don't... their day is not wasted.

"Free makeover, nail bar sessions, we have goodies and swag bags and all kinds of great things for the students," said Collier.

With so many dresses, it's hard to think you couldn't find that perfect dress for you.

"Something that is not too much, that is kind of like me," Jones said.

If you would like to make a dress or accessory donation, you drop off items at Crystals Bridal and Tuxedos in Baltimore. Drop-offs can be done throughout the year.
