Man Convicted Of Videotaping Sex Abuse Of Toddler

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Rockville man could face decades in prison after he was convicted in Frederick of sexually abusing a toddler.

The Frederick News-Post reports that 31-year-old Richard Lee Montgomery was convicted in a plea deal Monday. He didn't admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor and two of second-degree sex offense.

Prosecutors agreed to drop other charges, including four child pornography counts for allegedly videotaping the abuse.

Frederick County State's Attorney Charlie Smith says he'll ask for 50 years, the maximum under state sentencing guidelines. Circuit Judge Julie

Solt isn't bound by the guidelines and could give Montgomery to up to 115 years at his sentencing in May.

The abuse occurred in the Thurmont area in 2012.
