Lady Terps Ready For Final Four Appearance

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ)--With the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship on the line, our home team take the practice court one last time today before hitting the road.

Amy Yensi has more on the exciting send off for the team.

The University of Maryland still celebrating their win against Tennessee.

"We are really excited. We are proud of them and we know they're going to  do well," said Whitney Craigo.

The Maryland women's basketball team is more determined than ever.

"That was our goal last year to get to the Final Four and this year it's you know to get to the championship game and win a national championship game," said Laurin Mincy, guard for the Terps.

Their looming showdown with UConn fuels their last practice at Xfinity Center.

"They're the big dog. They're the Goliath and we are the Dave.  So we're gonna come out and play as hard as we can," Mincy said.

The Goliath, UConn is the two-time defending national champion. The University of Maryland record, nothing to scoff about. That's why their fans are not worried.

"UConn is not ready for this. UConn is not ready for Lexie Brown," one fan said.

"We can't go and play differently. If we go and do that, play Maryland basketball I think great things are in store for us," said head coach Brenda Frese.

The Final Four show down is all the buzz here on campus. Though they can't be in Tampa, students say they'll be cheering on the team as if they were.

Maryland meets UConn in the Final Four, Sunday at 9 p.m

This is the Terps 5th Final Four appearance and the 3rd under coach Frese.
