Sabra Classic Hummus Recalled

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WJZ) -- Sabra Dipping Co., LLC announced a voluntary recall of about 30,000 cases of its Classic Hummus due to possible listeria contamination.

The recall is limited to five SKU numbers of the classic hummus.

Sabra doesn't believe any other hummus product is affected.

According to the FDA, "Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

Sabra says no one has reported an illness due to consuming the hummus.

Consumers who have purchased any of these products are urged to dispose of or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with any questions may call toll free 1-888-957-2272, Monday – Friday 9:00AM to 4:30PM Central Time.
