Anne Arundel County Responds To Baltimore Riots

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Due to the Governor's declared State of Emergency in Baltimore City, County Executive Steve Schuh tonight announced a cancellation of all county sponsored activities and transportation into Baltimore City.

This includes the Department of Aging and Disabilities Transportation Program, which provides medical trips into Baltimore City. All clients are being contacted for the purpose of notifying them of this change in the schedule.

To assist in the Baltimore City Police Department's response to civil unrest, the Anne Arundel County Police Department has also deployed 65 of its officers, including Police Chief Tim Altomare, along with equipment and vehicles.

The cancellation of county sponsored activities and transportation will be effect until the further notice.
