Deputies Investigate Sexually Explicit Juvenile Video

IJAMSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- An explicit video is causing a great deal of controversy at a Frederick middle school. The video was made by a female student and then confiscated by administrators.

Rick Ritter has more on the investigation.

We're told a seventh grade girl and a ninth grade student engaged in sexual activity, recording it on her cell phone.

Parents who don't want to speak on camera say they're upset they didn't find out about the incident sooner, but administrators say they acted before things could take a wild turn.

Inside Windsor Knolls Middle School, a video containing sexual activity between two students becomes the talk of the halls, putting administrators and parents on high alert.

"The nature of middle school, once the chatter starts, it tends to spread," said Michael Doerrer, Frederick County Public School spokesman.

It unfolded Thursday around noon. Windsor Knolls staff caught wind of a sexually explicit video made by one of their seventh grade students and a ninth grader at a Frederick County high school.

"Other students at Windsor Knolls were chattering about what was on the phone," said Doerrer.

School officials say the female student recorded the sexual acts on her personal device. A group of kids wanted to see the video, and even joked about paying for it.

The phone was quickly confiscated by administrators before parents of the students involved were contacted.

Ritter: "You said as far as you know, the video was not shared with other students?"

Doerrer: "The information that we have right now is the material was just on the smart phone. It wasn't actually shared or put on social media."

Doerrer says the district considers themselves lucky catching the video before other students could see--or even scarier--it went viral.

"This situation could be a lot worse and I think that's something parents need to be aware of," said Doerrer. "Fortunately, we caught this quickly, we acted quickly, and I think we're lucky that we did."

The students involved are being disciplined. Meanwhile, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether or not any charges should be filed.

The Windsor Knolls middle school principal notified parents about the incident by email Friday afternoon.
