American Visionary Art Museum To Host Sculpture Race In June

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The American Visionary Art Museum has rescheduled its annual Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race for June.

The museum says the annual competition among human-powered works of art will be held Sunday, June 14.

The theme of this year's race is "Out of this World" in tribute to the Hubble Space Telescope that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The race features wacky and imaginative works of art that are human powered to travel on land, through mud or over water. The race course winds through downtown Baltimore's neighborhoods and parks.

The museum postponed the event from its original date in May due to the state of emergency declared following the riots sparked by the death of Freddie Gray, who was fatally injured in police custody.
