Phil Backert, from, joined the guys to discuss the O’s recent offensive struggles.

Phil tells us that the O’s finished dead last in OPS for the month of May. Adam Jones saw both ends of the spectrum having a stellar April and a terrible May. Everth Cabrera has also struggled in the 9 hole.

The guys also discuss if the answer to any of the Birds’ problems could be in the farm system. Mike Yastrzemski is the first name that popped into Phil’s head. He thinks that Yastrzemski could be a stopgap if Adam Jones’ ankle injury lingers.

Phil also tells us that while he never second guesses O’s skipper Buck Showalter, he definitely did last night when he pulled Ubaldo Jimenez from the game. While Ubie has been pitching well, the rest of the rotation is very much in limbo and the guys discuss that as well.
