The Orioles began their draft by taking DJ Stewart out of Florida State with their first pick and according to O’s insider Steve Melewski, the O’s got the man they were looking at the entire time. They like his batting, walk rate, and Steve says he might even be able to play right field.

When asked about the progression of players and how they are getting to the Major Leagues faster, Melewski says it could be because of how big college baseball is now.

The O’s also picked Jonathan Hughes with the 68th pick. Melewski says the scouts grade his fastball as above average. They even had him for a private workout and liked what they saw.

The guys also take a minute to talk about the effects of Nolan Reimold’s call-up. Check it out!
