Annapolis Peahen That Eluded Capture Returns Home On Her Own

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A wandering peahen that escaped from an Annapolis-area farm and evaded multiple would-be captors has returned home on her own accord.

The Capital Gazette reports Robert Bradshaw, owner of the bird and Hidden View Farm in Crownsville, found the peahen in his barn Monday morning. The peahen had been missing for about a month.

Bradshaw told the newspaper, "I guess she just went for a vacation."

Bradshaw says he received about 600 phone calls from people who said they spotted the peahen all over Maryland, from as far as Chester and Odenton. There were multiple capture attempts, but none were successful.

The peahen lives on Hidden View farm, a 100-acre garden and preserve, with three other peafowl.
