POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — Fire officials say a man’s body has been recovered from the Potomac River near a recreation area just west of the nation’s capital.

Montgomery County fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says a hiker spotted the body around 3:30 p.m. Sunday near the Carderock Recreation Area, which is part of the C&O Canal National Historical Park.
