Former Del. Ron George Says He Plans To Run For State Senate

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Former Anne Arundel County Del. Ron George says he plans to run for state Senate in 2018.

George, a Republican, announced his plans on Monday to seek the Senate seat representing District 30, which includes Annapolis and southern Anne Arundel County.

George says he wants to bring a fiscally conservative approach to the office.

George, who owns a jewelry store on Main Street in Annapolis, plans to make his announcement there on Tuesday.

George served in the House of Delegates for two terms beginning in 2007. He left office in January after running unsuccessfully in a four-way primary last year for the Republican nomination for governor.
