Md. Judge Who Had Romantic Relationship With Felon To Retire

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Montgomery County judge who was at the center of a controversy last year over her romantic relationship with a convicted felon, has submitted her retirement from the bench.

On Monday, 54-year-old Circuit Court Judge Audrey Creighton sent Gov. Larry Hogan a letter informing him of her retirement, effective July 3.

Creighton was cast into the spotlight after she accused her sometime live-in boyfriend, Rickley Senning, of kidnapping and assaulting her. 25-year-old Senning pleaded guilty to those two charges in January and was given a three-year sentence.

The Commission on Judicial Disabilities also started an investigation into the matter. The results of the investigation have not been announced, and it is unclear whether Creighton's retirement will end that inquiry.

Creighton's attorney, William Brennan, declined The Washington Post's request for comment.
