CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman found handcuffed in Cumberland.

The Cumberland Times-News reports 36-year-old Allen L. Johnson has been charged with false imprisonment, assault and four counts of rape.

Police say they arrived at the home in the South End neighborhood on Wednesday to investigate a complaint about an assault. Police say Johnson let them into the residence, where they discovered a handcuffed female who told them she had been held there for two days and had been physically and sexually assaulted.

The woman was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. .

Johnson is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond. It was not immediately clear if he has hired an attorney.
