Woman Pleads Guilty In Hit-and-Run Death Of Goucher Student

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A Towson University student who struck and killed a Goucher College lacrosse player last year while driving drunk has received a six-month sentence.

The Baltimore Sun reports 24-year-old Kayla Wiseman pleaded guilty Thursday to driving under the influence and one count of felony hit-and-run in the death of 19-year-old Matthew Gabriel, of Austin, Texas, on April 13, 2014. Authorities say Gabriel was hit by a car as he crossed Dulaney Valley Road in Towson. Police say Gabriel was not in a crosswalk when he was hit and Wiseman fled the scene.

College officials say Gabriel was a member of the men's lacrosse team.

Wiseman was sentenced to three years, with all but six months suspended, followed by three years of supervised probation.
