Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Truck In Westminster

WESTMINSTER, Md. (WJZ) -- A 58-year-old is in critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma after being struck by a pickup truck on Washington Road.

State Troopers responded to the accident in the 400 block of Maryland Route 32 (Washington Road) in Westminster just before noon on Thursday.

Police say as the pedestrian was walking along the southbound shoulder of the road they were struck when a truck.

The 58-year-old was knocked into the guardrail and had to be flown by Maryland State Police Medevac due to life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still unknown at this time. Police say that the driver may have drove toward the southbound shoulder to possibly avoid a collision with an oncoming northbound vehicle,

Washington Road between Stoner Avenue and Bennett Avenue closed for about an hour after the accident.
