Police: Male Shot Near Epicenter Of Baltimore Unrest
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Monday, a man was shot multiple times near the intersection that featured so prominently in April's riots. This is also on the heels of a deadly weekend.

People in Baltimore are asking when the violence will end. Our city's top cop believes we are heading in the right direction.
A gunman opened fire on an 18-year-old man during broad daylight, shooting him multiple times in the chest on the 16-hundred block of North Avenue.
"Not safe out here for no one these days," said one resident.
It's just a block away from the intersection that was at the center of Baltimore's riots.
"I think it's sad," said Akia Stallings, who lives nearby. "Just lost another brother to the streets."
It's a familiar sight for the community and police.
The shooting follows a violent weekend.
"This weekend was challenging; we had a total of five homicides," said Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis.
This summer is turning into one of the deadliest in decades; people are scared to even go outside.
"You never know, walking to the store...when it's going to be my last time? It's terrifying," Stallings said.
"I'm in the house before the sun goes down," said another resident.
"You don't never know what's going to happen when you step out your door," said Nickisha Edwards.
People living in this area say the violence has only gotten worse since April's unrest.
"It's too much violence. Every day, somebody is getting shot---seven days a week," said one resident. "Seven days a week is uncalled for. It's unnecessary."
"Scared for my children, for my sons to be outside playing ," Stallings said. "You never know when a stray bullet is going to come."
A city is screaming for the bloodshed to end.
"It needs to stop," Edwards said. "All this crime---people getting shot and stabbed. It needs to stop."
Baltimore's top cop says he's listening---and they're making progress.
"The arrests that we are making, the guns we're seizing, the drugs we are taking off the street---all those indicators tell us we are heading in the right direction," Davis said.
The man shot on North Avenue is listed in grave condition and a person of interest was taken into custody. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP.
