MASN’s Roch Kobatko joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn today to talk about the Orioles’ need for a corner outfielder.

A lot of buzz is swirling around about outfield prospect in Norfolk Dariel Alvarez and whether or not he should be called up to the major league now or later. Roch thinks maybe now is not the time to call him up, “When you’re in contention and the windows closing, is that the time to throw a kid out there and experiment?”

Roch also stated that it is very unlikely the Orioles will make a big splash at the trade deadline simply because they do not have the prospects. “I was talking to a scout from another organization earlier today and he said for what they’ve got or are willing to give up, you might get a mid-level type of hitter. But you’re not going to get a big name. That’s why when I see Justin Upton or Carlos Gonzalez inquiries, I don’t see how that is going to work.”
