Prayer Service Held In Dundalk For Governor Larry Hogan

DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ)--Prayers tonight for Governor Larry Hogan as he reaches the half way mark in his cancer treatments.

Democrats and republicans inside, all the here tonight say this has nothing to do with politics - it's all about compassion.

WJZ's Derek Valcourt has more on the prayers service for the governor.

At Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, they're lifting their voices in prayer, not for themselves, but for Maryland's cancer stricken  governor.

Governor Larry Hogan's already halfway through his battle with stage thee non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the chemo treatment has taken its toll.

"My hair is different and I'm a little more tired but everything else is pretty good," said Governor Hogan.

Hogan reports doctors tell him his cancer is already 95 % gone. Cancer specialist  caution he isn't out of the woods just yet, but their success rate against this form of cancer is strong

"I think the chance of the governor going into remission is really excellent particularly given the results he's getting so far from his scans," said Dr. Kenneth Miller, Sinai Oncologist.

But until he gets that good news friends and even total strangers are behind him and praying for his full recovery.

"He still has a battle, he fighter, we know he's going to come through it doing well," said Del. Bob Long.

"I believe when people get together wholeheartedly and pray for people they see good things happen. There is power in prayer," said Sen. Johnny Salling.

The Governor has three more rounds of chemo ahead of him.

He says he's feeling confident and still working long hours when he can.

Similar prayers services for governor have been taking places around the state in recent weeks.
