Bowie Baysox manager Gary Kendall joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about Bowie’s first ever Eastern League Championship.
Gary talked about an under-rated player that had a big impact on the teams success throughout the year. “You have names like Mancini and Latimore that had above average years but Garabez Rosa was a guy who coming into this year we were really relying heavily on. He was a guy who plays multiple positions, he can defend, he’s a good fastball hitter. He got off to a really tough start then he got his feet on the ground with about a month to go and he wound up walking away with the MVP honors.”
Gary commented on just how difficult it is to win a championship in the minor leagues. “It’s hard to win a championship and the reason why is because there are a lot of moving parts, you got to stay healthy, you got to get the right breaks and usually some guys have to step up which happened for us. A lot of this goes to Brian Graham and our farm department because they gave us those pieces.”
