BALTIMORE (WJZ)–A massive manhunt is on for the gunmen who opened fire outside a crowded shopping center in the middle of the afternoon.

One man is dead and four more people injured after bullets flew into the crowd.

WJZ’s Meghan McCorkell has the latest on the investigation.

It happened on Reisterstown and Rogers right in front of the 7-11.

A police officer who was on patrol at the time found multiple victims laying on the sidewalk, all suffering from gunshot wounds.

“All I heard was, ‘pop, pop’ and I just started running. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to die,’” said one witness.

Witnesses say someone opened fire in the busy parking lot around 3:00 p.m.

Blocks of Reisterstown Road were on lockdown Friday as the search for the gunmen began.

“This is a very large crime scene. I want it locked down. Nobody’s going anywhere,” said police spokesperson, T.J. Smith.

Investigators say whoever pulled the trigger meant to cause serious harm.

“You don’t pull out a gun on Reisterstown Road at Rogers Avenue to fire for any other reason than to shoot at people,” said Smith.

Ryekiesha Paul was inside the 7-11 moments before the shots rang out.

“It’s sad, It’s really sad, I’m tired of hearing about it, for real,” said Paul.

Investigators are now interviewing witnesses and combing through surveillance footage from nearby businesses, but detectives say the community needs to step up and help.

“We want the community to understand that one of your children could have been out here. So if you know who this person is call us,” said Smith.
