Ray Rice 'Rewriting The Script' For Daughter's Sake
NEW YORK (WJZ)-- Former Raven Ray Rice says he's re-writing the story of his life.
He spoke on a CBS radio show this week, talking about how his reputation and career derailed following an ugly domestic violence incident.
WJZ's Jessica Kartalija has more.
His days with the Ravens may be long gone, but Ray Rice hasn't given up on his football career.
He spoke with a CBS sports radio show in New York about getting back into the NFL.
"I do want to play football again, and if I can't play again, I would at least like the opportunity to make a difference," said Rice.
Rice has been trying to rebuild his once-sterling reputation following a domestic violence incident involving his then-fiancé, in an Atlantic City casino elevator.
"One thing that I have done over the past year is really understand the severity of domestic violence," he said. "Everything I had done good in my life has gone to waste, and I'm in a lifelong process trying to rebuild my image."
He talked about needing to re-write the plan for his life--for the sake of his young daughter and stressed the importance of combating intimate partner violence.
"Domestic violence, especially man on woman, now that there's everything I've been through--I know there's no place in society for it.
Rice also offered up some advice to Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy, who was suspended following a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend.
Rice encourages Hardy to look into the severity of domestic violence--saying better late than never.
